Welcome to my nursery page. My name is Carrie Ball and I have always had a love for babies. I’m passionate about the art of reborns. I pour my heart into every baby making them realistic and beautiful. I never rush when creating my babies. I only use the highest quality materials to weight my babies and do it so when you pick your baby up he/she feels real. I paint using Genesis Heat Set paints, it gives me control over how thick the layers of paint are as I go. It takes many translucent layers to create veining, undertones, mottling and flesh tones that make the sculpt come to life. I love how it allows the affect of the veins to appear as if they truly lay under the skin. Each step requires patience in adding the details required to achieve the realism we all love. Depending on the baby I paint tiny capillaries, stork bites, baby scratches and milk bumps. While all babies have detailed blushing and creasing. The details of the nails on their tiny hands are carefully attended to. Each layer I paint must be set with heat, the paint will not dry completely without doing so and helps the paint set onto the vinyl. I varnish all my babies with a matte varnish so they don’t have that shiny look. I only paint the sculpts that I love and feel pulled to create. I root using the highest quality hair, depending on the sculpt I use either mohair and alpaca hair. Both so soft like a real babies hair. I always root with a direction real hair grows. I choose hair color based off the skin tones and what looks best. I hope that as you’ve read my description you have an idea of how much I pour into each and every baby. Also how much I love this art. Most of my babies take months to bring to life. I want each one to be one that I would want in my own private collection.
