HOW IT STARTED FOR ME:
My name is Melissa and I have had an affinity for Reborns for years, since around 2012. I actually decided "You only live once!" while on my cell phone, at a fast food drive through, and I bought my first Reborn in July 2022, the Alyssa sculpt.
The painted Alyssa kit, who started this all, came from PreciousReborns Nursery by Nathalie Fakenbridge (purchased here at reborns.com). Her art on the Alyssa doll is just gorgeous! She will always be my forever baby and will always have a special place in my heart. Around Thanksgiving 2022, I purchased another baby from Special Hearts Babies by Amanda Stone, which was a reborned Grace Kinby Doll. That is a very fun doll! Fast forward to Valentines Day 2023 and my Valentines Day Birthday, my ex husband bought me another Reborn (here at reborns.com) from Rockabye Reborn Nursery by Wendy Starke. That was the Aspen Awake Sculpt and she is just too cute! Her artist did a fantastic job. Then in June 2023, I adopted from (here at reborns.com) Blanchard Babies Nursery by April Self, the Felicity Sculpt. I was totally impressed by the artist's, April Self, talent on the Felicity Sculpt. She is an amazing doll and her artist did a flawless job! Since then, I've been adopting babies for myself and putting up for adoption the ones I am not interacting with.
BEGINNING TO PAINT REBORNS:
Late in 2022, right before I adopted by reborned Grace Kinby doll, I attempted to paint my first silicone Reborn; however, it wasn't the greatest work and I kept him for a little while, but another dolly mommy decided she wanted to adopt him and I gave him up to her. I don't know if silicone dolls will be part of my adventure for a while. At the very end of the 2022 year, I decided to start painting vinyl reborns, specifically 3 of the same kit. I chose to begin with three of the Sweetie kits by Donna Rupert because I thought those would be great kits to start with, followed by a blank Alyssa kit (of course that kit is a special kit in my heart). I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey. I know I'm just a rookie, but each doll is made with love.
MY LIFE AND OTHER HOBBIES:
When it comes to my more personal life... I am a licensed Registered Nurse for over a decade now, since 2011. I work night shift as a RN Supervisor. I do enjoy my full time job. I am a mother of a wonderful teenage son. My family wouldn't be complete without our old senior Labrador, Jack, and younger cat, Luna. We also have 3 chickens, which are very spoiled.
You'll usually find me each day working my night job, sleeping by day, catering to my furr-babies, and spending time with my family. For fun, I enjoy Reborns (role playing, outings, and painting), reading (historical fiction, romance, fantasy, some memoirs/autobiographies), diamond art, hiking, camping, lakeside picnics, and the beach. I also upload videos on YouTube in my spare time. Older videos are unrelated to reborns, but the newer videos are all about my reborn journey.
