Mary Mother of Jesus as an infant. She was born of Anne and Joachim who were both of advancing age. The angel promised to give Anne a child she desperately wanted and she was to be given to given to God. Her parents would not live to see her grown, so it was a reasonable course of action. Tradition has it that Mary was given to the temple at the age of three. Mary is the fourth of the Babies of the Bible series. Previously are Moses, John the Baptist, and the Jacob and Esau twins.
Construction details: Mary was created from the Playful Sage kit from Bountiful Baby. This kit was made from 3D scans of a real baby so this doll is truly a representation of a living baby. She is approximately 4 month size: 23 inches long, 8 lbs 12 oz. in weight. She wears 6-9 month size clothing and number 3 size diapers. However, she comes home with a loincloth style diaper similar to Middle Eastern infant attire in the era. She was painted with professional quality air dry paints and pastels and double sealed for durability and to create skin texture. She has lovely rooted chestnut colored hair with matching rooted eyebrows,
She has a fake lambskin covered bottle as might have been used in biblical times. Mary comes home with all the accessories shown in the pictures including a modified pacifier that fits in her open mouth. She does not have magnets. Her blanket is blue, as are some of her accessories, since blue is the traditional color for Mary. A blue cloth was used to cover the Ark of the Covenant, and Mary is regarded as the new Ark of the Covenant who carries God within her.
