Welcome Reborn baby Grace! I reborned her from the Grace kit of Bountiful Baby’s discontinued Kinby line. Kinby babies were a line of factory made dolls, made from scans of real babies, like Realborns, but made for ages 3+. A Kinby baby could be bought and sent for $144 + tax. They came in a nice box, wrapped in a soft kinby blanket, wearing socks, a diaper, and kinby onesie. Girls had a hair band. And they came with a magnetic pacifier. [I know because I got one for my daughter]. The head and limbs were hollow, and the body was stuffed with polyfill only. They had minimal factory paint, as you can see from the photo of my daughter’s Kinby grace. Kinby babies have hair molded into their sculpt.
When they discontinued the line, they sold some sets of heads and limbs, and bodies, on the bountiful baby supply site. So, I decided to reborn one. I consider Grace a “reborn playborn”. While, I wouldn’t recommend her for anyone under 5, she was painted with heat set paints, which have a bit of durability to gentle play. She is stuffed with plastic poly pellets and polyfill vs fine glass beads, so she is lighter. [and if they were ever to spill, they are easier to pick up and put back in. Baby looks cute as a boy or girl. Her magnetic pacifier has an enclosed magnet that can’t be removed unless the pacifier is broken, making it safer for older kids. If someone wants a lower cost baby for themselves, you can always reweight her to your liking.
Since she is now a hand painted reborn, she still needs to be carefully handled. I’m not responsible for wear and tear to reborn or paint due to handling, or play.
She has full limbs for maximum poseability. She is painted in a newborn style, with many translucent layers that include capillaries, veining, mottling, undertones, shading, blushing, & milia. There’s also glossing on her lips, & in ears, nose, and on nails. After painting her molded hair, I added details along the front hairline. Baby has a strong magnet in her head for a magnetic pacifier. No detail has been overlooked! She was painted with heat set paints, and a heat set matte varnish was used. Her eyes are a blue-ish violet. She has light colored lashes too.
She has rings on her neck and legs for easy turning.
Her limbs and head are vinyl. [not silicone]. I photograph using natural light, in different settings, with my Cannon Rebel.
