My sweet little “Danni” creation was a beautiful sculpture from the start. In a blank sleepy stare, she asked me to paint, root and bring her to lite in a very special way.
I took my time being slow and careful in order to make her look as realistic as possible, (within my stage of experience and learning.)
I feel as though I have left no detail undone and have accomplished everything I set out to do for her… under “HER” guidance of course, since they always seem to have a say-so in the matter.
I’ve painted “Danni’s” head, hands, feet, belly plate and tooshie with mottling layers in a variety of custom colors using several varying patterned, hand-pulled mottling sponges, store bought stippling tools, paint brushes, etc., in different shapes and sizes in order to make her skin look very lifelike.
All layers were applied using tried and true newer methods taught to me by well known artists within the doll community over the last few years, along with some proven successful methods that I managed to work out on my own.
“Danni” has veining, creasing, shading/shadowing, blushing and tiny little capillaries placed in all the right places. They were applied at different points of time during the painting process and some layers were applied more than once.
She’s had 3 translucent, all-over color wash layers. Once in the beginning, once in the middle and then one near the end which was the layer that made all of her deeply painted colors come to lite before my eyes and is a stage that always takes my breath away.
I painted her with Psycho Paint along with Kris C and Fuse FX pre mixed colors as well as Sam’s and Enfis pigments. She was professionally matted using Psycho Paint and Silicone Velvet Matting Powder.
She has been deeply rooted with very soft, dark brown mohair by Paula Cordington with Fine Fibre Mohair.
She was placed upon a perfectly pre-weighted and stuffed ReggiesDolls 13” cuddle and pose body which is perfectly perportioned in comparison to her head, limbs, belly plate and tooshie. She is super fun to cuddle and hold . One of her outfits included is a hand made gown by Sarah Wood. Sarah also made her binky clip, which I’ve attached to a preemie sized “Thumbie” pacifier that was sent to me from her sculptor. She will come home with a nice box opening, filled with love.
This doll is not a toy and not suited for children or anyone younger than 18 years of age.
This is a handcrafted piece of art. Subtle differences in paint and hair are normal and are not considered abnormalities or defects.
I have taken many photos and a video of her in 4 different light sources. My video shows her movement and cuteness as I dress her and brush her hair as well as showing many photos of her in different forms of light.
