All pictures where taken by a window in natural lighting during the day, so please be aware that the colors you see may differ on the actual doll in real life. With that being said, the doll may appear red on some devices but it is really not, different devices and computers screens may vary and show different colors than others.
The Beginning Process:
Zara was reborned (made) from the "Charla" kit sculpted by Donna Rubert. She was given a warm gentle bath to remove the residue and oils from her kit before the process of bringing her to life and giving her own sweet personality. Zara is a high-end quality collector's item and a piece of artwork; care should be taken when handled by young children.
Baby's Skin: Zara was painted in many layers of Genesis Heat Set Paints of mottling, veining, creasing, blushing, and brown skin tone paints to achieve an ethnic, African American baby skin tone. She has been sealed and textured twice with layers of Genesis Heat Set "Thinning Medium" to give extra protection to his paint from rubbing off or fading overtime.
Baby's Hair: I spent hours rooting Zara's hair each strand at a time by hand. I rooted her hair with high quality dark brown colored mohair from Susan Nagel. Her hair is rooted in a natural growth pattern so that it lays in certain direction like a young baby's hair would lay. I applied waterproof glue inside Zara's head to seal her in hair in from the inside to prevent her hair from falling out over time. Even thought her hair is glued in, it is highly suggested that you DON'T pull on it or do any rough brushing and combing as it could fall out or break off.
Baby's Body: Zara has 3/4 arms and legs. She is weighted only with glass beads, polyfil, and plastic pellets which makes him feel a like a real live baby. The plastic pellets are only inside her arms. Her body does NOT contain any sand at all nor does any of my other reborn babies. Zara wears newborn sized clothing but can also wear some 0-3 months size clothes. All of my babies come from a safe, smoke, and pet free home.
I have applied gloss to Zara's finger and toe nails and tipped them off to give them a natural realistic baby nails look. I also have applied gloss on her lips and inside of her nose for a moist look to achieve a natural appearance.
Her eyebrows have been drawn on using a dark brown prisma color pencil.
Magnets: Zara contains a magnet in her head for a magnetic pacifier. Caution should be taken around electronics and people with pacemakers.
