Pickle was painted with Genesis heat set paint. I strive to create amazing realism with my skin tones and textures. The Genesis paint is perfect for painting in thin layers or glazes, and is permanent when heat set.
Skin: She has gentle blushing, texturing, and mottling which simulate the uneven appearance of a 5-6 months old baby's skin tone. In addition, I paint subtle veins on the head, arms and legs to give ultimate realism to the skin.
Gentle blushing and shading are painted all over each limb and the head to bring out all of the excellent details on the baby.
No crease or roll is overlooked.
This process takes many hours of work, but I do this to achieve the look that I want. It is worth it when I see the realistic results.
I have applied a thin layer of matte varnish to protect the paint. The skin does not feel rough.
Hair: Pickle’s hair is a pretty medium brown color.
I used premium angora mohair on her, and the texture is soft, fine, with a slight wave.
I painstakingly micro-root using a very fine needle that roots only 1 or 2 hairs at a time. The natural pattern of hair growth is followed giving the scalp a realistic look.
It takes many hours and days to root the hair, but the results are worth the effort. I also paint the fine hairs that grow around the scalp with tiny brush strokes to simulate the hair that grows around a baby's face.
Pickle’s hair has been internally sealed, and it can be wet, gently brushed, and styled.
Face: Pickle's little sleeping face and expression is so adorable.
I have very softly painted Pickle’s brows with a tiny brush one hair stroke at a time, and she has some rooted eyelashes.
Her face has been painted and blushed to look like my interpretation of a 5-6 months old baby. A fine layer of dewy skin varnish has been applied on her face for subtle texture and to protect the paint.
Body: Pickle has full arms and legs that have been filled with glass beads and fiberfill.
She has a cloth, non-jointed body. Her head, arms, and legs can be turned for posing. Her head has been weighted to be floppy.
Magnet: A magnet has been applied in her head for her hair bow and pacifier. Caution: magnets can be harmful to people with pacemakers.
Layette: Pickle wears size 6 months.
She will come home an outfit of my choice, a pacifier, plus some extras to make a special box opening for the buyer.
*Blankets, toys, clothing, and other items are for her photo shoot and are not included in her layette.
