I love creating lifelike babies and art dolls and have been painting for myself, friends, and have sold some babies to collectors over the last four years. Even so, my workspace is overflowing so I have decided to offer some of my early work at discounted prices. These babies were started, but never quite finished until recently, thus they are new and never displayed, they are just not 100 percent like my current work and style. Anything that I consider a flaw will be noted.
Offered in this listing is an adorable big baby created from the Libby sculpt. Libby was brought to life using many transparent layers of paint to give her a lifelike skin tone. She has subtle mottling, blushing, gentle shading of thin skin areas and creases.I have created veins that appear to be under the skin. Her nails were painted with detail including natural looking tips. She has painted barely there brows and I rooted her hair and lashes then sealed it inside. Her hair is a light neutral blonde and I rooted the lashes in a darker shade.
She has 3/4 limbs and is about 22 inches and a little over 6 pounds. Inside she has enclosed glass beads and poly fil. I weight my babies to be a little floppy as I think they pose better that way so she is not overstuffed in the chest area. I have included a photo with her unclothed so that you can see the body. She does have a magnet inside for her pacifier, so she should not be close to those with Pacemakers or some other types of electronic devices. She wears 0-3 months and some 3-6 months sized clothing best. I am including a long sleeve bodysuit, lace jumper/dress, sleeper, headband, magnetic pacifier, receiving blanket, birth certificate, and care instructions. Other items are props and are NOT included.
Libby is adorable, but she was one of my early babies and is priced accordingly. Here is what I consider an imperfection: I used mohair that is a beautiful color and straight, which is what I wanted. The problem is the mohair supplier did not sort the hair with the cuticle going in the right direction and I gave up trying to do it as I rooted. Consequently the hair gets messy easily. You can smooth it down, but now that I am more experienced I would not use this hair. Libby is still a nice baby and I am sure someone will enjoy adopting her! Please ask any questions before buying as Libby is a final sale item and I cannot accept returns. Please keep in mind that she is an art doll, not play and because of the glass beads not really safe for children. Thank you for considering her!
