This reborn baby doll has been created from the limited edition kit, Tegan by the renowned artist Laura Lee Eagles and reborned by myself. The details on this kit are as stunning as can be. The kit has been sheer joy to work with and I am delighted with the beauty of the final result. I have used only Genesis heat set paint to give Tegan true life-like skin tones. Genesis paints do not flake off or fade. I wanted to give this beauty a peaches and cream complexion that represented an older infant. I've worked on Tegan for many hours, days and weeks to make her this detailed. I gave her very subtle veining, sweet mottling, realistic painted eyebrows and many sweet little details. The doll's nose was not opened but shaded for realism instead.
Tegan was painted with layer upon layer of soft translucent skin tones. She has very soft skin tones on her sweet little mouth. I've finished her precious lips with a soft satin finish.
On Tegan I opted to NOT give her a magnetic pacifier. I did not like the way it would have set on her mouth. I would not be able to add one at this time as the head is completely sealed. I gave Tegan the most beautiful full eyelashes. They are a lovely color and sweep up in a lovely sweet curl. Her eyebrows are hand painted. Both lashes and brows were done to match her painted hair. The lashes are glued from within very securely but I would still recommend using caution when putting clothing over the doll's head and face.
I feel that Tegan is truly one of a kind. Each reborn artist has their own techniques. The same kit can look so different from artist to artist. All items used in the making of Tegan are new and first quality. When I hold this beautiful little baby doll in my arms I find myself rocking her just as though she were real. She is a true joy to cuddle. With her cloth body she will feel so real in your arms. I would like to mention here that this is a quality hand crafted work of art. It is in no way a manufactured imported baby doll. I have started with completely blank vinyl parts and step by step have turned it into this amazing reborn. I use only top quality items in the making of my baby dolls. I have priced her extremely well. Vendors as charging as much as $139.99 for the kit alone. I have chosen a very lovely starting layette for her. She is a large baby doll and wears six months clothing very nicely. She has full legs and 3/4 length arms. The arms are jointed so the move easily and she is easy to dress.. The head can be gently moved from side to side and the full length legs have a limited amount of movement. I have spent countless hours painting my Tegan with a delicate head of baby fine hair. I lay down layer and layer to build up depth and realism. Painted hair on a reborn baby doll is perfect for someone that likes to put lots of hats, headbands and caps on the dolls. The little style will always look neat and sweet. I added a layer of matt varnish to give the baby hairs a very realistic look. I love the effects I can get when I take my paint brush in hand. I can get very lovely swirls, crown and fine baby hairs. The brushes I use have only the very fewest bristles so I get a very fine line. Most people are so surprised when I tell them baby's hair is painted. I love the look of the hair very close to baby's head. Her precious scalp, with little angel kisses, can be seen through the hairs. Tegan's scalp has 3 very tiny inconspicuous little bumps.
I believe Tegan is one of Laura's earlier kits and it has molded lettering on the back of the neck. Be sure you are going to be okay with that. Also, the first outfit that I show Tegan wearing is a bit too big on her and the cloth body shows through in the neck area. I liked it on her and it will still be included in her layette.
I am always very precise with the finger and toe nails. They are very realistic looking. I use a magnifier and paint them over and over until I am happy with the result. The nail tips are a natural looking color giving the look of a sweet baby manicure. Baby's hands and feet have been blushed sweetly and each crease, fold and wrinkled has been shaded for realism.
Again, limbs on my baby are 3/4 length arms and full legs. . Baby's limbs are weighted with fine glass beads. The cloth body is weighted with plastic poly pellets and excellent quality fiber fill. Her head is weighted with plastic poly pellets and quality fiber fill. She is a good sized baby and feels very realistic when held. . No sand has been used in the making of the baby doll.
