Ruby is not a silicone doll. It is vinyl. She has a cloth body. The doll has an anatomically correct tummy plate painted to match. It sits over the cloth body. If you are new to purchasing a reborn and have any questions at all please contact me.
My doll is NOT meant to be a play toy for a small child. Also, if you have any chewing pets, please use care with my doll as the limbs are filled with fine glass beads. I opted to not give Ruby any magnets.
Up for "adoption" is my version of the most beautiful Ruby kit sculpted by Cassie Brace. Ruby is the first of Cassie's kits that I have reborned and the beauty of the doll takes my breath away. Her details are so amazingly realistic. Open finger hands are always my favorite to work with and the fingers on this kit are so graceful and beautiful. I am delighted with the way baby Ruby turned out and am thrilled to be able to offer her for adoption. Ruby is an open edition and will come with the certificate of authenticity.
I have used only genesis heat set paint on my baby doll. This paint bonds with the vinyl and does not flake or fade out. The paint will withstand the test of time.
Ruby represented, to me, a baby maybe a month old. She is 21 inches and weighs a very realistic 6 pounds. She has full limbs and can wear 0 to 3 months and some 3 month sizes. While I've given Ruby a mottled skin tone she has almost a porcelain complexion.
Ruby looks and feels so real. I have blushed the parts and given them delicate undertones just as a real newborn would be. I've attended to every crease and wrinkle and given the parts very delicate and realistic veining. I have given the limbs lots of mottling tones representing a very new baby.
My choice of hair for sweet Ruby was to give her a very natural and realistic head of painted hair. It takes many hours to create painted hair of this quality. I love the look of painted hair on a doll representing a newborn. It sits close to the scalp and still shows the skin through the hair. I paint the hair with brushes with the fewest of bristles. The style has lots of swirly movement and lots of baby hairs towards the temples. It is perfect for someone that wants to put on lots of baby hats and caps. Ruby has hand rooted wispy eyelashes. They have been securely glued in place but I always recommend using care when pulling anything over the head.
I have weighted Ruby to pose and feel like a real baby in your arms. I have used only high quality items for stuffing and weighting the cloth body and the vinyl limbs. I have used fine glass beads to weight the limbs and capped and glued to prevent any leakage. I have weighted the cloth body with plastic poly pellets enclosed safely in a strong nylon stocking which has been surrounded by quality fiber fill. The arms and legs are jointed and can be carefully positioned for posing. I've weighted the head with plastic poly pellets enclosed in a strong nylon. The head also contains quality fiber fill and has been sealed to prevent leakage. The head can turn from side to side. Please be sure to support the baby's head just as you would a real newborn. The limbs are attached to the cloth body with cable ties. Where the ties end I have put fabric stay put on the endings. The layette includes an anatomically correct tummy plate painted to match the doll.

The layette for Ruby will include the clothing she is seen wearing, custom certificate of adoption (please let me know if you want to choose the name for baby and the name of the adopting parent). It will include a layette blanket, extra diaper. I include my own personal care sheet for keeping the doll in pristine condition. No other items or props will be included. I always include an extra item or two.
