Up for your consideration is my version of the beautiful doll kit, August sculpted by Dawn Mcleod and reborned completely by myself. The doll is approximately 22 inches and weighs about 5 and 1/2 pounds. The doll is not overly floppy. I would always advise supporting her head while picking her up though. I love the realistic looking face on her and the beautiful limbs. Please do note the shoulders on the doll. They are pronounced. The full length limbs can be carefully moved. The doll's head can be turned from side to side. Always be careful when dressing and undressing the doll to not put too much pressure on the parts.
August has been painted only with genesis heat set paints. This has been my choice of paints since I started reborning. The paints bond with the vinyl and do not fade or flake off with time. With care my dolls can remain beautiful for many years and can even be passed on as an heirloom.
I gave August incredible realborn baby skin tones. She has very realistic mottled skin tones. I gave the doll very realistic veining, subtle blue undertones in areas where the skin would be thinner. The doll has amazing blushing on the limbs, hands and feet. I gave the doll a very realistic baby look manicure of the finger and toe nails. The doll was given a coat of permanent matte varnish. I gave the doll very slight moisture on the corners of her mouth, inside of the nostrils. and on the corner of baby's eyes. August has hand painted accentuated eyebrows. August has hand rooted wispy eyelashes. I used Slumberland mohair for the lashes. They are securely glued from within but please use care when dressing the doll.
My choice for this doll was to give her painted hair. It is very realistic looking. It has taken me many hours to get hair painting of this quality. I used brushes with only the fewest bristles. I love this look as I think it mostly resembles the realism on a small baby. The hair has a lovely styles and baby's scalp can be seen through the hair. The doll's hair was finished off with a coat of thick medium to give it a look of 3d hair. Painted hair is perfect for someone that likes to put on lots of headbands and little hats.
I've weighted August with only high quality materials. No sand was used in weighting the doll. Because of the full limbs she can wear a larger variety of clothing.
The doll was not given any magnets. Because of the shape of the mouth the pacifiers do not fit well. MY DOLL IS NOT MEANT TO BE A PLAY TOY FOR A CHILD. It should be handled as a fine collectible. Also, please be careful if you have any pets that like to chew. The limbs contain fine glass beads. The layette will include the clothing August is wearing with the exception of the one piece pink dress. It is too small for her. The doll wears 0 to 3 months sizes. I will include an extra item of this size with the doll. It will be my choice.. I will include a care sheet with my personal suggestions for keeping the doll pristine. I always include a custom Certificate of Adoption with the name of the adopting parent, and the name of the doll. If you do not want the name of August let me know what name you would like along with the name of the adopting parent. I did create an anatomically correct tummy plate but I have not shown it on any of the pictures. I painted it to match the doll. Personally, I find them difficult to fit onto the dolls. I will be glad to include it for you but if you decide to use it for posing purposes only. you may want to cut it to size to fit better.
